As much as we’d like to offer you the best deals and best bargain golf clubs we can find, with this post we want to talk about the best of the best regardless of price. This year the hybrid options for ladies are quite strong. There are options for women of all handicap levels, and for the first time in a long time, you will see some companies offering multiple hybrid choices for women. This review will have our picks for the top three performing ladies hybrids of 2020, and of course, we will throw in a few lower-priced alternatives!
Callaway Mavrik Ladies Hybrid
The Callaway Mavrik is the newest release in the Callaway series of clubs. These Mavrik hybrids follow the success of the Rogue Hybrid from last year. Callaway released two versions of the Mavrik hybrid for women, the Mavrik Max and the Mavrik Max Lite.
The Mavrik hybrids feature Callaway’s Flash Face technology, making them the longest hitting hybrid that Callaway has ever released. This club also uses Artificial Intelligence to make sure that the center of gravity is perfectly placed in each individual club. In years past, a hybrid was a hybrid, regardless of the loft they were all designed the same. With this new AI, each hybrid is tweaked to perform as it should.
The Ladies Callaway Mavrik Hybrids have sort of a boxy look to them. The Max Lite is designed for the slower swinging player looking to try and get a bit more speed out of each swing.
The new Mavrik is a fantastic hybrid, and there is no question it is long and easy to hit, but of course, it was released with a hefty price tag. If you want an alternative, the Rogue hybrids from last year have dropped in price quite a bit since the release of the new Mavrik. Although the Mavrik improves upon feel, sound, and overall design, the Rogue is still a fantastic choice.
TaylorMade SIM MAX Ladies Hybrids
The latest and greatest from TaylorMade are the SIM MAX hybrids. These have a bit more of a traditional hybrid look to them than the new Callaway Mavrik that we just reviewed. The brand new V Steel Sole Design is probably our favorite feature of this new hybrid.
The V Steel Sole is not new technology; it has just been revamped for 2020. The primary purpose of the V Steel Sole is to give this golf club better turn interaction both in the fairway and out of the rough. One of the reasons a hybrid is such a great club to keep in the bag is the fact that you can use it from so many different lies. The V Steel Sole makes this even more possible this year.
TaylorMade again included their Twist Face technology, and that will likely stick around for several years. The Twist Face technology makes these golf clubs so much more forgiving at impact. For women golfers, the moment of impact can cause the club to turn slightly and ruin a perfectly good swing. Twist Face, the perfectly placed center of gravity and the weighting of this hybrid, make up for any imperfections at impact.
If you need a lower-priced alternative to the SIM Max Ladies Hybrid, we thought the M6 from last year was one of the best hybrids ever released. The pricing has just recently dropped, and it may be the time to pick one up.
Cobra F Max Airspeed Ladies
Last on our list is the F Max Airspeed hybrid by Cobra. This is a design that will appeal more to the higher handicap, slower swinging golfer. We also wanted to include this option because it is priced far lower than the Mavrik and the SIM Max.
This is a very lightweight design to help a player generate more clubhead speed. The center of gravity is located low and in the back to help with both consistency and forgiveness. The sweet spot on this club is plenty big enough, but it is a much smaller profile design than something like the Mavrik. If you like to look down at a more shallow profile, you will love the looks of the F Max Airspeed.
The Airspeed Ladies hybrid is also an offset design. If you are a golfer that tends to lose the ball to the right, you will enjoy the corrective benefits of an offset design. The pricing of this new release is quite fair, but if you still are looking for an alternative, the F-Max from a few years back is a similar design. The F-Max will be light and forgiving but not quite as long as the Airspeed. The F Max line of Cobra clubs always favor the player with less swing speed looking for those extra yards.
