Buying a gift for an addicted golfer, as you are about to tell, is easier than you think. There are so many different golf related items that you can buy for under $20, and they are sure to make your gift recipient smile. Whether it be golf balls, golf gloves, or golf accessories, all of these items will be needed eventually when on the golf course.
Without further adieu, let’s get into the 20 best golf gifts under $20!
Srixon Men’s Soft Feel Golf Balls
Everyone needs golf balls. Most balls are far more then $20 per dozen when you buy them brand new. I have written many different articles on the best budget golf balls, and the Srixon Soft Feel balls are always at the top of the list. For under 1 twenty dollar bill, these balls are an absolute steal. They are great for golfers of all levels. Beginners love them, as they are cheap but they still perform well when struck correctly. Better golfers love them, too, as they are great on both long shots as well as delicate short shots that require a lot of spin.
Mile High Life Multiple Accessory Set
If you want an idea gift kit, this is the one. It includes a golf microfiber towel, a retractable golf club brush, and a divot repair tool (that also includes a ball marker). This gift kit has many of the essential golf accessories that I talk about in this article, which makes it very convenient.
Mile High also has other gift sets that are sure to be used by all golfers at some point. For under $20, these kits are great for golf gifts on a budget.
Hitting Mat/Strip
Hitting mats are incredibly convenient; they are 100% necessary if your gift recipient wants to practice at home. I bought mine for a little more than I would like, but there are a few in budget for what we are looking to spend. They are a little smaller than the more expensive ones, but they will work just fine.
They should hold up for many years, even after lots of different shots are hit off of them. They might not stay in place perfectly after each shot, but the feel is very comparable to an actual shot on the course.
Putting Green/Mat
Putting greens are some of the best golf equipment that you can have at your house. They are perfect gifts, as they don’t cost much and provide a lot of value. I often find myself hitting a few putts every time I walk by mine, which is multiple times a day. When I first got it, I practiced on it for over an hour every day for well over a month. It is very addicting, and it great practice for the hardest part of golf.
This putting green is just about the only one under $20, but it will do just fine. It is long and thin, and it has one hole where the ball will actually drop when it goes it. If I wanted to spend the least amount possible for the best value, this is the one I would get without going too cheap. See my article here on the best putting matts and greens for more options if you want to get a higher quality one.
Cheap Chipper Club
If your gift recipient is terrible at the short game (putting, chipping, short shots), they might really need a chipper club. It is not for everyone, so try to get a feel for whether they would like it or not.
For a club under $20, it could save someone many shots each round if their short game is the weakest part of their game. Here’s another article that goes into depth of the best chipper clubs (two of which are under $30).
2 Pack Callaway Gloves
Golf gloves are incredible gift options. They are small, easy to buy, and last a long time. Serious golfers go through gloves pretty quickly, so a pack of two is a great option while still not spending much money.
I’ve written many articles on the best golf gloves on a budget, and these are up there as well. They are one of the best priced 2-pack of gloves that you can buy. Callaway makes very high quality gloves, with many of their gloves costing $20 each.
Set of 3 Towels
Towels are 100% necessary in golf. Microfiber golf towels are the most effective, as they can remove everything that you can think could get stuck on your clubs. The more golf towels, the better. When it is poor weather out, I often times go through multiple each round.
This set of towels will hold up very well, and they are perfect for hanging on a golf bag.
PGA Tour Golf Shirt
Golf shirts can be crazy expensive. Like, $80 a piece at some pro shops. For the same quality shirt, though, the PGA brand is a no brainer. Their shirts cost under $20 if you can find the right one. They feel great when I am playing (I own two), as they aren’t too thick or too thin.
You can also go with the Amazon Basics brand, as they make a high quality golf polo for even less than PGA Tour does.
Lessons of a Lifetime
If your gift recipient is old school or really likes the learning/researching part of golf, Lessons of a Lifetime is a perfect gift for them. It includes both a booklet and a DVD made by Tom Watson about his best tips for developing your game.
Tom Watson is one of the most popular and most well-liked golfers of all time. He has a lot of information that will be valuable to anyone that wants to imporve their scores.
SuperStroke Putter Grip
You won’t be able to buy an entire set of golf grips for under $20, but you can buy a very high end putter grip. A new putter grip, especially a large one like SuperStrokes, can make a huge difference when putting. Many golfers feel much more comfortable with a thicker putting grip, as it takes the hands out of the stroke essentially.
Lot of 3 Nike Belts
If a golf belt doesn’t match with an outfit, a golfer can’t truly feel confident with his clothing. For that reason, a three pack of different colored golf belts can be super helpful. It will provide a lot more options when it comes to someone’s golf wardrobe.
Personally, I am not a fan of webbed golf belts, but they are huge hits with other golfers.
Golf Regrip Set for DIY Golfers
If your golf gift recipient loves doing things by themselves, this regrip set is perfect for them. They can buy their own golf grips (or you can buy them for them), and they will have everything they need to change their golf grips by themselves. It will save them a lot of money, and give them more options for how they want their clubs gripped.
It can be super fulfilling for people to do things by themselves. Odds are, if your golfer loves DIY activities, they will love this one too.
Creative Covers Headcover
This is a personal favorite for me. I remember when I saw my first one on the course… a huge moose driver headcover from a high school teammate. I absolutely loved it, and have been recommending that brand’s headcovers every since. They sell for a little moree in the stores, but you can get them for under $20 online pretty easily.
They have lots of different designs, from Marvel characters to old cartoon characters to animals and even golf movie stars. I will surely add one of these to my future wishlists. They are a great talking point when you are paired with new golfers, too!
Golf Shoe Bag
Not many things will get your car dirtier than getting into your car with your golf shoes on. You can bring in sand, grass, and mud pretty easily unless you take your shoes off before you step in your car. For that reason, every golfer should have a shoe bag. These bags will carry shoes and all other accessories that you want to carry along.
More expensive shoe bags are no better than one that costs under $20, so I recommend you save the money and go with a cheaper brand.
2 Retractable Club Brushes
If you are not to familiar with golf, you will be shocked at how incredibly useful and necessary retractable golf club brushes are. Golf brushes are 100% needed to wipe clubs off after shots that resulted in dirt getting stuck to the club. If it is not a retractable brush, though, it will be very inconvenient to get the brush on the club. That’s because you will have to drop your brush in your bag each time (hard to find) or bring your club very close to your bag if it is attached to your golf bag with no retractability.
Getting two of them for under $1o is still one of the best deals in this article, in my opinion.
Simple Training Aid (Smooth Swing and Swingyde)
There are two simple training aids that I am a big fan of:
- Swingyde: this is the off brand swingyde; as the real one is over $20. This is just the same though, just cheaper. It is great for working on wrist hinge and swing plane, two huge aspects to a great golf swing. I’ve used it personally for many years, and I always keep it in the bag.
- Izzo Smooth Swing: when your arms act independently of your shoulders, the swing can get wacky. When the elbows are closer together in the swing, though, the swing is typically more on plane and connected overall. This tool is perfect for keeping one’s elbows closer together.
Golf Hat
Who doesn’t love a good golf hat? Most top golf brands have a great quality golf hat under $20. My personal favorites are Titleist, Callaway, and TaylorMade. Their hats are all very adjustable and breathable. Like all hats do, they keep the sun off of my face and they keep my hair from flailing around to much as well.
Ultimate Shoe Cleat/Spike Set
Golf spikes fall out far too often in my opinion. Many times, a golfer will simply wait until they get new golf shoes instead of putting new spikes in. However, if they had the spikes and spike tool, I’m sure they would rather fix the spikes instead. So, make sure they have that option available.
These spikes fit nearly all golf shoes, so you should be fine even if you don’t know what golf shoes they have.
Amazon Essentials Golf Shorts
Amazon Essentials actually makes some high quality golf clothing for a low price. They are just about the only brand where you can buy brand new golf shorts for under $20.
They are available in lots of different colors, and they are the perfect length in my opinion. They are not too short or too small. When it comes to quality, I am sure they are very similar to the top of the line golf shorts that cost 4x the price.
Magnetic Putter Headcover
Headcovers fall off often. If the putter does not fit snug inside the putter headcover, it will fall off pretty often. This can be inconvenient, as a golfer will have to drive/walk back to where they think they lost it. When I changed to a new magnetic headcover, my headcover hasn’t fallen off since. This is a great gift for under $20, as you can customize it to your recipient based on what design they might like. Personally, I really like the USA one in the picture above. `
