Women’s golf balls are not made the same as men’s golf balls. Let’s get right into the differences real quick:
- Women’s golf balls have lower compressions. The lower compression a golf ball has, the less swing speed you need to “reach” the core at impact, resulting in maximal distance. If a women with a slower swing speed played a golf ball meant for men, they likely wouldn’t hit the ball hard enough to truly allow the core to be effected and cause the ball to “rebound” as much as possible off the club face. See here for the lowest compression golf balls on the market.
- They are typically optimized for distance. Some golf balls are meant for control (spin and distance control). Those balls typically aren’t maxed out when it comes to distance though. Golf balls specifically designed for women often times are focused solely on distance, as most women are more concerned with hitting the ball further as opposed to having the ball spin more around the greens.
- They might (probably are) be pink. Yes, women’s golf balls are (far too often) pink colored. Most of the models that I am going to mention here also come in plain white though, so don’t feel like you are stuck with pink if you don’t like it.
Alright, let’s get into the 4 best golf balls that women can buy!
The Lowest Priced & Best for Beginner Women: Nitro White Out
If you are a beginner or if you are on a super tight budget, pick the Nitro White Out golf balls. They will get the job done, and that’s all you can hope for when you are buying 15 brand new golf balls for less than a dollar each. This is a two piece golf ball, so it is designed to fly pretty far, but the ball doesn’t perform well when it comes to feel and spin around the greens. Most women, especially beginners, won’t notice or care at all though.
As most of the reviews will tell you, you get what you pay for. For the price, most golfers are very content with these balls. Like I said, they get the job done. They will fly relatively far compared to more expensive golf balls. If you are fan of pink, I would get those, as they are very easy to find when looking for your ball.
The Best Value Women’s Golf Ball: Srixon Soft Feel Lady
The normal (not Women’s version) Srixon Soft Feel is my favorite, “best value” golf ball for men, so I can only assume the same for the ladies! All of the reviews online back up my personal experiences, so that is reassuring! This golf ball is the same as the original version, but at a lower compression so that women can hit it further!
When it comes to the price range, these are easily the best value golf ball that you can choose. It’s the perfect mix between price and performance, which is exactly what I look for when I choose golf equipment. These golf balls will spin much more than the Nitro golf balls, which you will benefit from as you improve your short game.
The Longest Golf Ball for Ladies: Callaway SuperSoft
Many women are focused solely on hitting the ball as far as they can. Many women find that they are not able to reach greens in regulation, even when they hit the best shots that they can. Plus, who doesn’t like adding a little more distance on their drives? No one, that’s who!
If you are one of those ladies, try a dozen Callaway SuperSofts! This golf ball is a super, super low compression golf ball (one of the lowest of all times actually). That means that the ball will fly the furthest distance with slower swing speeds compared to higher compression golf balls. So if you have a slow swing speed and want the hit the ball as far as possible, this is the ball for you. Plus, alongside the great distance, this ball is super soft (he he) around the greens as well. Overall, it is a great alternative to Titleist Pro V1x golf balls, but at a steep discount.
For Better Female Golfers: Titleist Pro V1x
If you are a better golfer, you cannot go wrong with the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball. It is by far the most popular golf ball for top amateurs and pros, both men and women alike! Odds are, you will know if you need this golf ball or not. It is the best combination of spin, distance, and overall performance. The price is a little steep in my opinion, but you can always choose to buy them used and save some money!
In case you are wondering, the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball is seen as the cream of the crop in golf. Golfers that want distance, greenside spin, and great distance control rely on this ball, as they know the quality controls are incredibly intensive. Cheaper golf balls don’t stand up to this golf ball in any way, expect possibly distance.
