When TaylorMade releases a new driver, it is worth taking a look to see how it is. This company really leads the way when it comes to ball speed. If you pay attention to the professional tours, you will see the TaylorMade clubs used quite often. Building on the success of the M6 Driver of last year, TaylorMade released their new SIM Max Driver in 2020.
We are here to give you our opinion on the TaylorMade women’s SIM Max driver and help you decide if it is the club for you and worth all that money!
Features
The SIM MAX drivers took everything players loved about the M6 and improved upon it a little bit. This club still features the twist face technology and a Speed Injected head. What is new for this year is the shape and the Inertia Generator.
If you are not quite sure what all of this confusing terminology means, you are not alone. When it comes to a speed injected face, all you need to know is that each club is checked to be as close to the legal limit as possible. TaylorMade discovered that drivers coming out of production were all within a range of the legal limit, but some were not getting as close as they possibly could. That is where speed injection came from. We like it because it means that when you purchase a SIM MAX, you are getting the same exact club as the next person, and that was not always the case in the past.
The Twist Face technology is all about forgiveness. This Driver has a slightly larger face from the M6 Driver, and it provides more forgiveness in the areas where players missed the most. Usually, the left heel and right toe are the most common spots for a player to miss.
The new shape on the SIM MAX Driver does take it a step further away from a traditional looking driver, pretty soon I’m not sure that the term traditional looking driver will apply to any clubs currently being produced. A rear weight in the SIM MAX helps with some ball speed and increased moment of inertia as well.
The SIM MAX driver is constructed with Carbon, Titanium, and Steel. If that is not enough components for you, I’m not sure there is much else that will satisfy you! TaylorMade uses the highest quality materials and places them strategically within the club to maximize ball speed at all times.
Adjustability
We saved our favorite feature for last. The TaylorMade SIM Max has a two-degree adjustable loft sleeve. When it comes to a Driver for a lady golfer, the adjustable loft is a fantastic feature. You can purchase this club with twelve degrees of loft and adjust to both ten and fourteen should you need it. Playing somewhere on a windy day and want to keep the ball down? Go to the ten. Struggling with a slice on your Driver and need some extra forgiveness? Go to the fourteen and work to straighten out your shots before lowering the loft. Loft adjustment is like getting several clubs for the price of one.
The Downside
The problem with the SIM MAX driver is that it sits at the top of the market as far as price is concerned. There is no question you will get many years with this club, lots of forgiveness, and a ton of distance, but you will pay a high price for all of that.
If you are looking for some great technology but don’t want to spend quite this much, look for an M6.
TaylorMade M6
The TaylorMade M6 Driver was the sensation last year, and there is no question this is a great club. It features many of the same speed increasing qualities of the SIM MAX and even has the twist face technology as well. The day the SIM MAX Driver was released, the M6 started dropping, and now is the time to get one. You will see this sales cycle continually repeat itself in the world of golf. Every time a new club is released, the previous model retails for considerably less. If you can be patient with this game, you can reap the rewards.
Yes or No to the Women’s TaylorMade SIM MAX?
If you are serious about distance and technology, there is probably not going to be another Driver out there that will give you the same results as the SIM MAX. When they say it is long and forgiving, they are not kidding. We love to see female golfers with confidence on a tee box, and there is no question that this Driver can give you the confidence you deserve to get the ball in the fairway, and out past your playing partners as well!
