The TaylorMade SIM Max Ladies Hybrid is the newest TaylorMade hybrid available for women. There have been a few significant improvements from last year’s M6 model, and this is one of the longest hybrids on the market. Of course, as always, with golf equipment, you will pay the price for distance and forgiveness. And you’ll also pay for the latest releases, even if the differences between previous models is negligible at best.
Technology
The TaylorMade M6 Ladies Hybrid of last year was a high performing club that worked well for many female golfers. The club is best suited for the mid to high handicapper. Although TaylorMade made some updates to this SIM Max, they kept the Twist Face technology and the Speed Pocket.
The Twist Face technology is used to help players with forgiveness. Any time a golfer hits a golf ball, the golf club turns a certain amount. The more stable a golf club is, the better the chances of hitting it straight. TaylorMade identified the most common places that golfers missed the ball and made the Twist Face even more forgiving in these areas.
TaylorMade is all about ball speed. The Speed Pocket technology helps players get the clubhead speed that they need to gain incredible distance. There is no question that if you are looking for distance, the TaylorMade SIM or the Callaway Mavrik are going to be your two best hybrid choices on the market.
The new V Steel sole is just a reconfiguration of some old technology, and we are glad they brought it back. The V Steel sole helps to provide better turf interaction both in the rough and on the fairway. The V Steel helps to reduce friction and get the club through even some of the more difficult lies you will find yourself in on a golf course.
Lastly, the face on this golf club is a C300 Ultra Strong Steel. By going to this steel face, the clubface got even hotter. You will feel the ball jump from the clubface when you swing the SIM Max Hybrid.
The Downside
There is no question that this golf club has everything you need to be successful. The problem is the price. These hybrids are priced high, and that may be acceptable if you need one hybrid in your bag. Most women golfers have 2, 3, and even four hybrids in their bag. If that is you, you will be spending quite a bit of money to fill your bag with the SIM Max. If you want something similar but not nearly as expensive, take a look at the M4 Ladies Hybrid.
Better on a Budget: TaylorMade M4 Ladies Hybrid
If you compare the M4 to the SIM Max, you will likely see a slight difference in distance. The SIM MAX is a bit more aerodynamic, and you should be able to get a few extra yards. If you are playing with something more than a five years old, you should see a decent increase in distance regardless of which hybrid you choose.
Yes or No To the SIM MAX Ladies Hybrid?
In all honesty, we love everything about this hybrid except for its price. If you are a female golfer struggling to find their way in this game, you will love this golf club. Adding this to your bag (especially something like a five hybrid) could become your go-to golf club. Use this off the tee, from the fairway and the rough. However, if pricing is a primary concern, do not feel like you will be sacrificing much to go to the TaylorMade M4. The M4 is still a highly capable hybrid that will bring you tremendous results.
